The Aftermath...

Well we lost power for a couple of hours, nothing major... Thankfully the storm took a turn inland and skipped over us.  We did still loose power for like 14 hours and today, was supposed to be the kids first day of school-that did not happen.  There are still people without power and they did not even cancel school!  I figured that they had been up and were not totally ready because we lost power so they could just stay home today!

So today we are going to finish getting prepared for school to start tomorrow! lol

Hope everyone out there stayed safe yesterday!

I know that I said I was going to do freebies on Fridays but I figure that since we have been dealing with Mother Nature that people may need something to keep busy! ;)  I, myself, crocheted my way through the power outage! <3 I will have pictures coming soon!

Waiting On Irene...

So... Here I sit, in Maine, waiting for the remnants of Hurricane Irene to come and try to knock out my power and flood my basement... Thankfully I am not living in one of the areas that is really prone to hurricanes!

As I sit here and wait for Mother Nature to show her ass I think that there must be thousands out there in the same boat as I am!  Why not give them a new design to play with... Most people have cleared their schedules just in case one of those nasty "what ifs" happen so that means that we are all sitting at home twiddling our thumbs, and if we are not very coordinated this could be both messy and frustrating! lol...

So I scoured through my ever growing folder of images that I have created and thought that perhaps an alphabet sheet would be a good one for today, just about everyone can use a letter!

Enjoy!  Stay Safe!  Craft On! <3

A Little Something... For Nothing!

So last night I was sitting here... Feeling pretty good... I blogged! lol... And I was surfing the internet looking for freebies of my newest craft idea and I realized I LOVE FREEBIES!  They are AMAZING!  Basically they allow me to try things that I would NOT pay to try... I do not want to shell out hard earned cash on something that I may, or may not even be able to do!

So when I have a thought on a craft the first thing I do is search the internet for blah blah blah FREE and look at the images.  I do not know if it is a confidence booster, I do sometimes tell myself "If they can do that... Why would I not be able to?  I can... I can totally do that!"  It is my little pep talk! ;)

Anyhow I was totally thinking that since I LOVE FREEBIES so much and they have helped me TONS then maybe I should start putting out some freebies!  So here goes... Don't hold me to it 100%... I may be a day or two late some weeks but I want to start doing freebies like one day a week, every week... And since I have such amazing humor why not have Freebie Friday... Or maybe Friday's Freebies!

Anyhow here is the first installment!  I hope you find it useful! lol

Oh yeah... The details... You are free to print and use, or have printed and use... Please do not take these images and present them as your own, or sell them in either digital or printed form-yes, this includes collections of pre-cut images.  Thanks! <3  The links are below each image and there are TWO this week, mostly just because I was excited!! lol...  Enjoy ;)

And if you are interested... I LOVE to see things that were made with things that I have created!  Feel free to share pics of stuff that you have made with them!

And now we blog...

Here we are... Totally new to the whole blog thing!  I was reading several different pages on the web and found that I seem to learn a whole lot from reading other people's experiences!  I thought that perhaps if I find the stories of others helpful that someone may find something from my experiences.

To give a little background...
I am the beginning part of Diamond Crochet & Crafts.  It started out simply Diamond Crochet Crafts but I soon found that I cannot stay on one craft too long-I need change!  lol... We have done crochet items (usually more in the colder months since I am in New England), jewelry, bottle cap items, and more recently bottle cap digital designs!  I absolutely LOVE to learn and have the most fun while I am conquering something-twisted I know but it is what it is!

Most of our business has been word of mouth, my greatest fear was that this would become a chore, something that I had once loved and now dreaded...  I was afraid that we would grow too big too fast!  That was back when I wanted this little craft business to become a full-time job!  Now I appreciate the business that I get... Generally it is enough to keep the supplies coming in.  I find crafting to relieve the stress that comes with the life of a large family, it is soothing; when I craft all of the other problems seem to vanish for the moment.  I have learned that there is no real "get rich quick" and I will always have to put work in to get funds out, apparently that is a part of growing up!  lol...

Anyhow now you know where we started and where we are... I will be posting more of our trials and errors in the next few days and plan to keep posting in the future as new challenges arise and we overcome them!

Thanks for reading!

Teri
