How to do a Foundation Double Crochet Stitch!

So I bought a pattern a while back and it taught me how to do a Foundation Double Crochet Stitch!  I was AMAZED!  I have been crocheting for about 22 years and had never heard about this stitch!  I have been trying to integrate this stitch into the patterns that I have been working on creating!  I think it is an amazing idea!  Not only does it remove that bunched up bottom of the project where the chain is, it also eliminates making two separate rows and creates them all in one!

It is AWESOME!!  Seriously amazing!  I know I am a dork but I am totally excited about this! <3

Basically what you do is create a chain stitch at the beginning of each stitch... I know that sounds confusing, but let me lay it out in words AND photographs!

So here is step 1, chain 3 - Pretty easy so far, right?!?

Step 2 - yo, slip hook into 1st chain, yo and pull through!

Step 3 - Chain 1

Step 4 - Yo, pull through 2 loops

Step 5 - Yo, pull through last two remaining loops
Are you still with me?  At this point you have made your VERY FIRST FDC stitch! <3  Great job!
Now I will show how to attach the next... Once you have this down I am telling you that you will LOVE doing it!

Second Stitch - Yo, insert hook into the chain that you
created when you made the first stitch, yo, pull through!

And now you are going to finish it up just like a double
crochet, yo, and pull through the first two loops on the hook!
Now you will have this, next you yo, and pull
through the last two loops on the hook!

That is it!  You can do it with ANY of the regular stitches!  I have found that working with a single crochet you start with a chain 2, half double crochet would depend on how tall your stitches are, I generally use the same 2 start chain that I would for the single crochet!

Please let me know what you think! <3

I am excited to see what you have created with the foundation stitches!

Creating a Crochet Pattern...

So I thought that since I purchase crochet patterns like they are going out of style that perhaps I should take some of these creations that I come up with and put them into patterns to sell as well!  I came up with a cute Sack Hat w/ Pom Poms... I LOVE the pattern!  It works up really quick and is super easy to make... The hard part is putting this pattern into a format that people can follow!

Oh boy here we go!  Now please keep in mind that I am fairly efficient in MS Office and feel as though I am fairly efficient in the art of crochet as well!  haha... Putting the two together!  Oh boy!

This is my product:
I have recently hooked up with three area photographers who are all willing to trade props for photographs!  AWESOME!!  I also have another who I was talking with and hopefully after the holidays will be working with as well! <3  I love photographers!  They ROCK!! <3

I have it all written down, I took pictures and wrote out the steps as I went along!  ;)  I have the idea all laid out in my head and NOW I have to lay it all out on "paper" on my laptop!  Wish me luck!

Thankfully I also have a great friend who is willing to work up my pattern and take a pic so that I know that people out there other than me can decipher what I wrote! <3

Wish me luck folks!  If this works out well we will be giving away a copy or three to those who follow our blog! <3

Lots of Love and warm wishes this holiday weekend! <3

How long has it been?

I know that I have been horrible at keeping up with the blog... Things have kinda spiraled outta control for me lately!  I am having a very hard time keeping afloat with kids, school, and the business!  Not to mention other outside stressers like baby daddy drama!  :(  They always seem to cause problems when you least need them too!  I have been in a rat race since somewhere around Black Friday!  I posted sales all over the place, usually I get very little business from doing this, and got a TON of sales!  So many that I ran out of epoxy not once, but twice!  I had problems with the mail, boy oh boy people will rip your heart out over $3 worth of merchandise - with FREE shipping might I add!  :(  I have learned a LOT and I am holding on to the fact that that is the important thing!  Or I am hoping that is the important thing!

I have found myself questioning my ability to maintain this craft business, questioning whether I even want to remain in school, questioning myself I suppose!  The kids seem to have been at their complete worst lately!  It seems as though that whole "when it rains it pours" is absolutely spot on at the moment!  I have started writing so many times and every time I do it starts to feel like a vent session so I stop... Guess I should just get past that and move onto the goodies! <3

Goodies:

  • I have learned a TON of new stuff in Photoshop!
  • My laptop is being fed ex'd tomorrow!
  • I have learned to tell people, I am sorry but I will just not be able to do that for you...
  • I have started creating my OWN patterns and will start selling them THIS weekend! <3
lmfao...

I have learned a LOT about taking orders and ORGANIZATION!!  OMG!!!  lol... I know that before I post major sales all across fb-land I need to organize when taking orders!  I double sold a couple of things and lost orders!! smh... It was horrible... And to top it off Jel was not feeling well the entire time so I was pretty much riding solo on the entire thing!  :(

Well I am hoping to have some goodies for the blog happening in the next few days!  I am definitely going to work harder on keeping it up!  <3
